What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician position at Actalent?
Description:
- Evaluate and set-up test specimens in test frames based on written documentation
- Operate and maintain testing software to run test specimens per testing standards
- Evaluate and fabricate test specimens based on written documentation from the lab manager, lab engineers, or other engineers within the department.
- Prepare and enter data for test samples for secondary testing
- Keep up with training on different testing standards
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in work station and laboratory common areas

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Building experience including; timber/CFS/steel/concrete/CMU construction, carpentry, machining, tooling, welding, hydraulics and electrical systems.
- Ability to read, interpret, and write documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with employees across all departments in the organization.
- Problem Solving Ability to identify options for solving a problem encountered during process or product improvement projects.
- Testing/Tools Ability to safely operate hand and power tools as well as powered industrial equipment. Can safely operate laboratory test equipment relating to product load testing.
- Read and understand material gauges and measuring equipment.
- Ability to quickly learn new processes and procedures.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret charts and graphs.
- Must be proficient in computer data input using Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel, Access and Smartsheet or similar programs with the ability to learn new programs as needed
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to safely drive company vehicles, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts and overhead cranes.
