Description:
This Lab/Engineering Technician will provide hand on support to MPE-Materials Process Engineering team to facilitate & help support engineers in a large development group in several areas.
Responsibilities:
- Examples of work scope would be metallography
- Running equipment and tests
- Operating microscopes, scanning electron microscopes
- Documenting work done in MS word or PowerPoint reports.
- CAD skills are important as the MPE group evaluates what materials will be selected in the design of engine parts.
- The job is a mixture of 60% testing in a lab, analyzing samples, and 40% documentation in Excel.
- Fabricate polymer composites and adhesively bonded test samples
- Perform lab tests and organize and communicate test data and results.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree
- Internship or 6 months plus experience in manufacturing or lab environment
- Familiarity with polymer composites, adhesives and elastomers is preferred.
- Proficient in Excel
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Mechanical aptitude or ability to work with hand-tools
