A leading DoD Organization is looking to add a Linux System Administrator to their team!
Description:
- Provide subject matter expertise on the system administration duties within a mixed virtualized and standalone environment.
- Builds, configures, troubleshoots and integrates new and existing systems to provide service enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure upgrades.
- Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space.
- Recommends software and hardware enhancements, diagnoses and corrects issues, defines and implements new services.
- Responsible for monitoring performance, system usage.
- Contributes towards the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP), backup systems and disk configurations.
- Conducts system analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies.
- Establish and maintain up-to-date cybersecurity configurations, patching, and virus scanning based on DISA STIGs, IAVM Notices, and local security policy.
Essential Functions:
- 4-6 years of experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Administration or Engineering
- 2-4 years of experience with Windows Administration or Engineering
- Configure, monitor, maintain, troubleshoot VMWare and/or other virtualization technologies
- Experience in VM life-cycle management (snapshots)
- Ability to use and configure hardware systems: ESXi,
- KVM and Network Switches
- Management tools (LDAP, IPA, Active Directory, etc.)
- Address and detect issues that impact projects and implement/develop courses of action (COAs) to mitigate or alleviate the impact to projects
- Experience implementing patches, scanning, remediating findings, auditing
- Support critical operations during standard and occasional non-standard working hours
- Work is 100% on-site and cannot be accomplished remotely
- Active Secret DOD security clearance preferred
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Establish and maintain up-to-date cybersecurity configurations based on DISA STIGs and IAVM Notices
- Using Veritas Backup Manager, support policy change and tape backup
- Support biannual classified hardware inventory in the System Integration Lab for physical security
- Maintain and update the IBM z14 ZR1 Mainframe with associated z/OS and RHEL operating systems.
- Lead a System Integration lab Working Group to review availability metrics, discuss project activities, and resolve hardware and software issues
