Description:
The Mechanical Engineer II will be responsible for supporting the factory manufacturing of small bulldozers and mini excavators. The primary repsonsiblity is to advise the operations, quality, and purchasing departments for any questions they have on the design of the machine. They are to make sure the instructions for the assembly line are correct. 90% of this position is supporting he assembly line and the other 10% will be some light design work. They will also be interacting with the design team that is based out of North Carolina. Strong communication skills are required for this position as this person will be interacting with suppliers, experienced engineers, the North Carolina team, and the assembly line staff. This person is expected to learn the machine that they are building, the design of the machine, how it is assembled, and why it is designed the way it is designed. There will be alot of time spent on their feet on the assembly line being a liason. Minimum years of experience is 2 years, interships included.

Design and release improvements to support Athens STTT assembly line and improve current product reliability/performance. Typical Day: Generally, I would expect 1/4-1/2 of every day will be spent in the factory monitoring what's happening, answering questions from assembly or quality personnel, investigating quality issues, collecting data/info for other engineers, etc. The remainder of the day will mostly be spent on communications with design engineers/quality personnel/manufacturing engineers and preparing for meetings where we may discuss all of the above. Education Requirements: 2-4 years applicable experience in a technical field focused on quality. BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technical Skills: Basic engineering drawing reading. Basic understanding of tolerances. Hands-on mechanical experience ... this could include experience with, for example, automobile/motorcycle/aircraft/farm equipment/construction equipment mechanics, carpentry, machining, electronics, robotics, manufacturing equipment. Soft Skills: Good ability to clearly and concisely communicate highly technical information via email and verbally with engineers. Also need to be able to patiently explain technical concepts to lesser-skilled workers in the factory.
