What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Office Assistant position at Actalent?
Description:
- Controls flow of clinic
- Patient teaching
- Sends in Rx’s
- Places Referrals as ordered at time of visit and tasks office nurse with the referral
- Places lab orders and gives to patient at check out- logs lab orders placed for tracking
- Places or Notates Rad orders that need to be scheduled- logs rad orders placed for tracking
- Coordinates surgery scheduling with scheduler, prints lab orders, goes over packet with patient, gives patient instructions—surgery packet would then go to office nurse to coordinate pre-op appointments, etc.- logs surgeries scheduled or needing to be scheduled
- Sends tasks to office nurse with items that can’t be done in clinic (ex. we need additional patient records, patient needs FMLA paperwork filled out, etc.)
- Does scanning as able (hope to obtain one more scanner at nurse’s station so every seat can have one- this helps out a lot)
- Sets up and assists with minor in-office procedures
- Processes instruments
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- BLS Certified
- Certification or Registration as MA
- Back office experience
- Heavy on clerical and organization - so strong insurance knowledge
