Summary:
One of the largest clinical diagnostic companies in the U.S. is actively seeking a Phlebotomist II to join their team. This opportunity will allow skill development to get exposure to a wide range of settings and healthcare professionals. Candidates in this position will interact with the client, patients, and other personnel in hospital, outpatient, patient service center, and clinic locations.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and room them for blood draws
- Perform venipuncture sticks to collect patient blood samples
- Labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information
- Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures
- Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required
- Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
- Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
- Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct
- Package specimens for transport. Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen.
- Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
Qualifications - Must Haves:
- Valid Phlebotomy certification with 1-3 years of experience with drawing blood
- Personality needs: Organized and Detail Oriented, Self starter, not afraid to learn, team player, strong communication, ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently but also within a team
