Polymer Chemist:
Job Description:
- Involved in all aspects of R&D activities of polymer/rubber/epoxy-based compounding for materials in the plant (Including new product innovation, cost improvements, process efficiencies, and quality issues).
- Conducts research on available manufactured automotive products to develop novel and improved products.
- Analyzes organic and inorganic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties, using FTIR, TGA/DSC, spectroscopic, rheological methodologies and other specific methodologies.
- Devises new equipment, and develops formulas, processes, and methods for solving technical problems.
- Involved in product testing and certifications to major automotive manufacturer’s product standards.
- Comprehensively involved in experimentation of heat cured epoxy-based compounds and rubber/epoxy- based compound development, cure cycle improvements, catalyst system development, adhesive substrate development into automotive applications.
- Ability to communicate with outside vendors, customers, and internal research and development groups.
- Performs job responsibilities in compliance with ISO/TS 16949; ISO 14001; and OHSAS 18001.
- Prepare reports, presentations based on conducted research, material composition, structure/property relationships, material characteristics etc.
- Prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests.
- Analyzes future new products trend, create new business opportunity by developing new products, new technologies and new processes.
- Must be able to travel domestically or internationally if necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year College or university with either Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or Chemical engineering, or related majors; or graduate degree with similar majors.
- 2-5 years of experience in a similar industry.
- Ability to lead and train new R&D members for various R&D activities.
- Be able to multitask various major development projects, including identifying goals, setting up task list, make timeline, etc.
Pay & Benefits:
- $100,000 - $120,000/year
