Project Manager - Merrillville/Gary, IN
We are actively hiring 2 Project Managers for a unique opportunity with a Tier-One Utility in Northwest Indiana! These Project Managers will be working with the local team to conduct full cradle-to-grave on utility-owned resources, including but not limited to: Industrial Warehouses, Receiving Docks, Office Spaces, and Corporate Headquarters. These facilities will be owned and operated by the utility, with the end-users being various internal departments and teams. Project Managers will begin with scoping and programming these projects, and take them all the way to "ribbon-cutting" once completed. This is a brand new team executing a new endeavor to improve the employee experience and resources within the organization, and a one-of-a-kind chance to have a lasting impact on coworkers across the entire company. Projects are currently planned out until 2040, with additional projects forecasted behind it.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform initial schedule management and planning of job(s)
- Determine initiation criteria
- Manage project through execution and completion
- Work with HR and integration management throughout project to acquire resources
- Employ quality management processes to maintain quality from initiation to completion
- Employ risk management processes while planning, executing, and monitoring projects
- Perform Cost Management of projects
- Engage project stakeholders and employ effective conflict resolution strategies
- Perform efficiently under deadlines, schedules, and various conditions
- Provide leadership and management of project team to get work completed
- Communicate with end-users to better understand and deliver on needs
Job Requirements:
- 3 years of experience as Project Manager, including both Planning & Executing Large-Scale Construction Projects
- Construction Project experience can come from variety of industries, including Commercial, Industrial, MEP, Facility, Civil, Building, Utilities, etc.
- We are more concerned about Project Management ability and interpersonal skills than specific project portfolio
- Experience communicating effectively with internal employees, key project stakeholders and external customers and subcontractors
- Ability to stay highly organized, detailed-oriented, self-motivated, and process-oriented while learning and executing on workload
- Strong, effective interpersonal communication skills and positive can-do attitude
- Preferred but Not Required - Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or related degree
- Preferred but Not Required - Any MEP or Building System Construction Project experience
Miscellaneous:
- This team will sit out of the Merrillville/Gary offices on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while working from home on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Field visits may be required.
- Target compensation is between $50-60/hour and will depend largely on specific candidate experience.
- This team currently has 5 years and $130million in projects planned, with work forecasted until 2040.
