Description:
The QA technician is responsible for ensuring the timely flow of samples and information through the product quality evaluation process, overseeing the non-conforming product program and producing and maintaining accurate documentation and feedback procedures.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Conducts daily quality audit checks through the quality evaluation process.
- Records and communicates lab results to the plant management team.
- Provides quality and food safety support and guidance to all departments.
- Assists QA Manager or Sr. QA Manager in creating/revising SOPs or WIs on a continuous basis.
- Assists QA Manager or Sr. QA Manager in creating/revising food safety programs.
- Performs additional testing and analyses as needed.
- Assists QA Management team in monthly food safety audits of the plant.
- Assists the QA Manager in completing twice yearly mock recalls/trace exercises.
- Able to perform product hold process comfortably with minimal guidance.
- Ensures that all testing equipment is calibrated and in working order by sending out equipment to manufacturers to be serviced annually.
- Ensures department tasks are done accurately and in a safe, timely fashion.
- Conducts other testing under the direct supervision of the MGR or Sr. MGR as needed.
- Assists in managing Donation program.
- Help manage inventory of lab supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently. Organized and able to handle multiple tasks. Self-directed, able to work autonomously.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Comfortable delivering quality related updates and reminders during shift meetings.
- Excellent people skills, including listening skills, and can work with all levels of staff. Team-oriented attitude. Partner with shift leads to solve product quality related issues in real time.
- Work with a sense of urgency.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to uphold Peet’s quality standards.
- Ability to analyze data and make recommendations on system and process improvement.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, and Excel. Willingness to learn new software programs as needed.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
- 1-3 years of quality assurance or manufacturing experience, or a combination of both.
- Some familiarity with third party audit functions including Organic Certification, AIB or similar audit groups, and or Kosher Certification.
- Training in statistical process control (SPC)
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in food science or related field preferred
