What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Technician position at Actalent?
Duties
- Receives, assesses, and releases all incoming Raw materials, ensuring they are within documented specifications. Initiates proper documentation for accepting, rejecting, or deviation of Raw materials
- Follows all Quality Systems, related SOPs, Control Plans, and current work instructions.
- Performs job tasks according to documented test methods and SOPs with on-the-job training.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation for all test results, following Good Documentation Practices
- Tests batch prior to release to production, ensuring specifications are met.
- Communicates with the mixing departments on batch releases, failures, and resamples. Initiates any necessary documentation for non-conforming results
- Prepares, dates, and standardizes laboratory reagents, titrants, and standards
- Reviews batch records for Good Documentation Practices
- Reviews existing methods and specifications on an ongoing basis and recommends changes and/or corrections.
- Assists in review and writing of SOPs and Work Instructions
- Provides support for trials, validations, and R&D projects as needed
- Assists with Co-packer testing and method validations
- Performs general lab duties, including cleaning, ordering, and inventory

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- B.S. would only consider someone with an Associate's if they came with significant experience IN WET CHEMISTRY Would want to see exposure to UPLC or HPLC on the resume
- Two years ideal experience range with WET CHEM and exposure to analytical instrumentation - just enough to prep the samples and learn how to run that basic testing on the job
- *Need to have an understanding of, and ability to explain, the actual chemistry behind a result. Demonstrated ability to work backward to optimize methods/fine-tune, troubleshoot, and discern WHY and WHAT next steps
- No specific instrumentation experience is needed- they only use HPLC and UPLC regularly
- Ability to work with Lab instruments such as NIR, UV/VIS, UPLC, etc.
- Ability to read, interpret and execute written procedures
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Possess excellent time management, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to accurately complete paperwork/documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and/or employees.
- Proficiency in Windows-based applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and Outlook, Internet Explorer.
- Must have excellent teamwork, flexibility, and leadership skills.
- Must be able to handle chemicals within permissible levels.
