Radio Frequency Engineer

Description:

We are seeking an experienced RF Validation & Integration Engineer with expertise in RF communication systems, including transceivers and filters. In this role, you will be responsible for the integration and validation of our satellite communication products. You will play a key role in ensuring high-performance RF solutions, driving innovation, and overcoming the unique challenges encountered in satellite communication systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the subject matter expert in RF communication systems, especially transceivers and filters.

• Lead the integration and validation processes for satellite RF systems, including both the Q/V band gateway link and lower frequency user link systems.

• Manage key supplier relationships and collaborations for RF system components and services.

• Develop and execute detailed RF system test plans and protocols.

• Collaborate with the testing team to review test results, investigate non-conformances, and drive issue resolution.

• Coordinate with RF design, algorithm, and software/firmware teams to ensure cohesive development and troubleshooting practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Communications, or a related field, with a preference for candidates with an advanced degree.

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with RF systems.

• Proficiency in using RF test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Vector Signal Analyzers, Network Analyzers, and Oscilloscopes.

• Strong foundation in digital communications including DAC/ADC, IQ imbalance, beamforming, digital predistortion (DPD), digital phase-locked loops (DPLL), automatic gain control (AGC), and error vector magnitude (EVM) analysis.

• Experience in RF component and system-level design, including PCB implementations.

• Competency in programming for automation of RF tests, with experience in languages such as Matlab, C#, C, or Python.

• Demonstrated ability to perform deep-dive debugging across RF, hardware, and software domains.

• Excellent engineering and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic approach and a broad system perspective.

• Effective communication skills to liaise with various technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in RF system architecture and performing trade-off analysis.

• Skilled in link budget analysis and cascaded lineup analysis.

• Ability to propose RF block diagrams and handle frequency planning.

• Advanced understanding of system-level concepts such as phase noise and linearity impacts on EVM/SNR/NPR.

• Previous experience with satellite payload design/analysis or wireless communications systems.

• Proven supplier management capabilities.
