What are the responsibilities and job description for the REMOTE - Packaging Engineering Specialist position at Actalent?
Equivalent Experience
Responsibilities:
Working with team and senior specialist on packaging optimization and sustainability projects
Identify cost saving opportunities with material selection and packaging variables
Impact sustainability efforts by reducing waste in selected materials
Work with finance team to adhere to project budgets and identify cost reduction and quality improvement opportunities
Engage with factories to understand capabilities and durability
Coordinate with R&D teams to set up and execute packaging trials and tests for new concepts (20% travel is expected to be onsite for these trials)
Analyze and report results
Provide technical support and packaging expertise to external customers, as well as internal teams such as Marketing, Operations, QA, Engineering, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and others
Travel about 20-30% of the time to various supplier sites or co-manufacturer locations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
BS in Packaging Engineering or Packaging Science
Also open to Mechanical, Chemical, Material Science -Packaging is preferred
4-5 years experience
Experience evaluating materials, costs, and improving sustainability efforts
Exposure to working with customers, vendors, or suppliers and managing relationships
CPG experience- consumer product goods, or regulated industry
Managing projects, packaging projects
SAP, CAPE, and the Microsoft Suite
