What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Lab Analyst position at Actalent?
Description:
The principal responsibility of this position is to develop new analytical methods and perform diagnostic testing for customer samples, ensuring consistent quality through raw material qualification, process optimization, standardized work, and in-process performance verification.
- Perform quantitative and qualitative genetically modified organism (GMO) testing for corn, soy, and downstream processed products.
- Execute experiments to optimize processes and aid in nonconformance investigations.
- Develop new assays and/or optimize methods for qPCR analysis. Validate new assays and/or equipment, and write concise validation reports.
- Assist with the upkeep and improvement of the Quality Management System, including SOP revision and training new technicians.
- Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance (routine and non-routine) on laboratory equipment
- Perform and document all required QA/QC procedures per official methodologies and/or company SOPs.
- Drafts SOPs, train other lab staff, and other new method deliverables to facilitate method transfer for customer testing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science Field (Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, etc.)
- 2-4 years of laboratory experience with emphasis on daily PCR testing (including preparation of stage plates, PCR plates, and manual and multi-channel pipetting skills)
- Experience in a regulated environment preferred.
- Able to perform necessary calculations and complex task sequences to meet testing requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize PCR processes with manual and semi-automated systems
