Description:
Located in Batesville, IN this position as Sr Manufacturing Engineer will be in a group environment where this team designs, develops, integrates, tests, evaluates or improve integrated systems or related processes, including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination. This team works with commercial or industrial designers to refine product designs to decrease costs.
Core Responsibilities:
- Find opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, weld processes, quality control standards, or product design, powder coating, materials and parts. Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
- Recommend design modifications to eliminate inefficiencies within the weld process.
- Solve new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
- Evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and engineering drawings to formulate corrective action plan. Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.
- Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
- Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
- Perform nonconforming material analysis and create NCM reports. Work with Quality Control on reducing the NCMRs.
- Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate, weld, paint, plate parts or products and to achieve maximum efficiency and utilization.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
- 3 years experience in manufacturing and weld engineering
- Strong mechanical and metallurgical experience with a thorough knowledge of welding. (GMAW, GMAW-P, RSW, GTAW)
- Knowledge of design techniques, weld tooling, and weld processes involved in the production
