Description:
Analyze research needs to determine feasibility of adapting manual procedures to computer applications; design, coordinate, and help to develop, modify, and maintain computer systems required to enhance clinical care and research.
Primary Responsibilities and Tasks:
1. Specify, write, modify, maintain, and validate computer programs
a. Review programming specifications (or CPM SAP) to ensure accuracy.
b. Write programming specifications (or CPM SAP) as required.
c. Write programs to support research needs.
d. Validate computer applications to ensure that they are correct.
e. Ensure programming SOP or guidance compliance, as applicable.
2. Project management and documentation
a. Lead programming projects and coordinate statistical programming effort of others.
b. Provide work status updates to supervisor.
c. Estimate time required to complete various tasks for budgeting and forecasting.
d. Attend and contribute to team meetings as required.
e. Follow documentation SOP and guidance requirements as applicable.
f. Maintain statistical documentation and/or eTMF
3. Apply and share new techniques to increase efficiencies
a. Assist management in improvements to departmental infrastructure helping to implement process (e.g., SOP) and technology enhancements (e.g., new applications).
b. Mentor Analyst Programmer I and II staff as needed.
c. Educate others in formal and informal settings.
d. Help with risk assessment and quality improvement activities by participating in QSD review and revision as well as root cause analysis work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Work requires four years of progressive programming experience which includes experience as a member of a development team implementing a major system and experience in a supervisory capacity.
