JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the overall safety, health and regulatory compliance functions as it relates to Safety and Health. This position reports to the Safety Director and will serve as the leader of the Safety Supervisor and Training team staff in health, safety and compliance matters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and coach the Safety Supervisor and Training team staff
- Assist in the development, monitoring and tracking programs to insure compliance of trainingto meet company objectives.
- Responsible for safety and remedial training as necessary
- Development of education and delivery of safety programs
- Perform road training/tests with drivers
- Monitor, evaluate and record training activities and program effectiveness.
- Develop and implement long range accident/injury prevention and cost control objectives.
- Keeps apprised of developments in federal and state safety and health laws likely to affect the company.
- Develop solid relationships with drivers and owner operators.
- Develop solid relationships internally to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
- Bring energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude to the department.
- Accident and injury investigation, root cause analysis, follow up, countermeasures etc. Assist in the management of accident insurance claims and law suits.
- Respond to accidents and perform necessary duties as the Emergency Response Coordinator.
- On call concerning matters of health, safety and compliance.
- Additional duties as assigned

- Transportation safety and health Experience-Preferred
- Commercial driving and training experience with CDL-Preferred
- Working knowledge of FMCSA and OSHA regulations and a willingness to learn the applicable regulations required. -Preferred
- Hazmat and tanker Experience-Preferred
- Proficiency with database, spreadsheet and Microsoft Products-Preferred
This position may:
- Require travel to other terminals as needed for Coaching training and meetings, shop training, safety meetings etc.
- Require some weekend work.
