To further our mission we are looking for a Landlord Engagement Specialist.
Position Overview:
The Landlord Engagement Specialist will report to the Housing Assistance Program Manager in the Housing Stabilization division of ACTION-Housing and work as an integral member of a vibrant and growing housing stabilization department responsible for building relationships with landlords in Allegheny County and developing and maintaining a rehousing plan for tenants facing displacement, whether due to eviction or catastrophe. All of our housing stabilization work is done consistent with ACTION-Housing’s mission: to empower people to build more secure and self-sufficient lives through the provision of decent, affordable housing, essential supportive services, asset building programs, and education and employment opportunities.
In addition to working closely with the Allegheny County landlord community, the Housing Stabilization Specialist will build out our landlord engagement program and will work closely with other departments at ACTION-Housing, as well as government and nonprofit partners.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work with housing stabilization team to advance mission by developing a landlord engagement program and list of available units for various income levels throughout the county.
- Oversee process of ensuring information is as updated as possible.
- Continue assessing and critiquing landlord engagement program in order to ensure it continues to meet the needs of tenants, landlords, and the housing stabilization department programs.
- Work with external partners, including government and Courts, to integrate landlord engagement program in the general housing stabilization landscape of Allegheny County.
- Maintain relationships with the landlord community, to include professional organizations, on behalf of ACTION-Housing.
- Serve as primary coordinator for ACTION-Housing in the event of a low income rehousing crisis by pulling together partners and coordinating efforts to rehouse individuals.
Job Requirements:
- At least three years’ experience in general customer service.
- Experience working in fast paced, emergency situations.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proactive mentality and ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to work creatively with individuals to solve problems and prioritize housing stabilization.
- Calm demeanor and ability to work in lead in high stress situations.
- Exemplary communication skills with a demonstrated ability to convey challenging information clearly, concisely, and tailored to different audiences as needed.
- Comfort with challenging conversations.
- Well-organized, detail oriented, and excellent analytical skills; proficiency in standard programs like the Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs, and online databases.
