JOB SUMMARY:
The cargo tank mechanic will inspect, service, repair, and maintain trucks and equipment while ensuring and maintaining safety regulations. This includes repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance on equipment as necessary to ensure proper operating condition.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintains service logs and records of maintenance on vehicles and motorized equipment using TMT software
2. Keeps tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized and in good working condition
3. Performs tank and DOT inspections, such as HM183, on cargo tanks
4. Perform repairs on DOT-407, MC-307 and DOT-412 tanks
5. Welding for repairs, including pit repairs
6. Able to install, troubleshoot, and repair cargo tanks and accessories
7. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment
8. Additional duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• 5 years’ experience with DOT cargo tanks
• Certified welder with 5 years welding experience required
• Must be a certified tank inspector
• Experience with HM183 inspections
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Post-secondary vocational education strongly preferred
• Previous experience in fleet shop preferred
• Previous experience with TMT (maintenance software) preferred
