Experienced Cost Estimator Needed

An Oakland-based professional consulting firm seeks an experienced, detail-oriented cost estimator to support clients, architects, and engineers in the public transit sector. Must have Caltrans experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing project plans and specifications in order to make a determination of the material quantities and labor costs required to implement and deliver major rail and bus rapid transit projects in and around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Education and Training:

• 5 years of cost estimating experience
• Knowledge of design and construction requirements and techniques
• A.A./A.S. degree in construction management or a related field (B.A/B.S. degree preferred)

Essential Responsibilities:

• Interface with clients, architects, and engineers to perform the scope of services awarded to firm
• Prepare job estimates, quotations and deliverables to primes and clients on a timely,

as-needed basis

• Create an organized cost estimate that accurately conveys the project elements to clients and peer professionals
• Maintain project records to include construction cost estimate files in Microsoft Excel spreadsheet format and miscellaneous document files in Microsoft Word format
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Advanced knowledge of design and construction requirements and techniques
• Advanced knowledge of the costs of construction materials and labor
• Advanced comprehension of design/construction plans and specifications
• Analytical and mathematical aptitude
• Strong oral and written communicator with organizational and planning capabilities
• Understanding of project scheduling and related software
• Knowledge of FRA, FTA, Caltrans and PUC standards
• Microsoft Office Suite; Microsoft Project; Primavera Project Planner, or Suretrak; RS Means Estimating Methods

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $50.00 - $75.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
