Summary : The Manager Distribution will provide leadership to team leads and associates in multiple departments involved in receiving, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, inventory control, and returns operations.
Ensure continuous performance improvement as measured by key business metrics (on time shipping, order accuracy, inventory accuracy, production efficiency, cost per unit / line shipped) while promoting and insuring teamwork and safety.
Execute performance improvement projects involving process, equipment, system, and facility modifications necessary to support continuous improvement program.
Coach and develop subordinate team lead, lead associates and support staff. Plan monthly labor requirements and execute staffing plans necessary to hit monthly volume targets while staying within budget for labor / overtime / temps.
Coordinate distribution activities with other departments and vendors.
Responsibilities :
- Provide leadership to shift team leads and area coordinators.
- Set performance goals, measure actual performance, provide regular, periodic feedback, and hold subordinates accountable for performance.
- Manage daily facility workload.
- Conduct daily status meetings with subordinate leaders to review workload and apportion resources as necessary to hit shipping / customer service targets.
- Provide leadership in prioritizing completing work requirements and assist in resolving any obstacles to production targets with other departments or service vendors.
- Ensure work priorities are communicated between shifts / departments.
- Lead the facility safety program.
- Plan and execute monthly safety team meetings.
- Facilitate monthly facility walk-through inspections.
- Document and follow up on all open action items generated by the safety committee.
- Coordinate all required safety training for associates by providing direction to department team leads and following up to ensure compliance with training plan.
- Investigate and recommend improvements to work processes and equipment that will continue to reduce injury risk.
- Ensure all required safety documentation are kept up to date and in compliance with the company safety program.
- Communicate corporate / facility policies to the workforce and provide associates with regular updates on performance.
- Coordinate and execute a monthly communication meeting providing updates on company performance, facility safety, and other key performance metrics.
- Insure associate questions are captured and provide timely responses to any questions raised.
- Provide regular weekly updates to associates on upcoming events and planned periods of overtime work.
- Provide leadership to support associates, ensuring all aspects of international shipping and domestic freight requirements are met.
- Provide guidance on operational efficiencies that could be gained through process improvement working with the internal customer group.
- Oversee outbound order processing activities for Titleist balls, FootJoy apparel, and Links & Kings products.
- Establish, monitor, and improve customer service standards for replenishment, picking, packing, and shipping of customer orders.
- Ensure all shipment activities meet / exceed standards for accuracy and timeliness.
- Seek and implement continuous improvement opportunities for order processing.
- Manage department expenses by creating / reviewing the departments budget and purchase requisitions and insuring expenses are kept within operational budget guidelines.
- Review and approve vendor invoices, ensuring pricing, quantity, and billed items are in line with purchase agreements.
- Identify and escalate any expenses with potential to exceed department budget.
- Coordinate inventory transfers between warehouses as required.
- Organize shipments and source transportation assets necessary to complete transfers in accordance with planning team guidance.
Requirements :
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a supervisor / manager is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a distribution function is preferred.
- Prior experience in a multi-shift operation is preferred.
- Prior experience in a continuous improvement work environment with proven record of implementing successful operational improvements is also required.
- Additionally, 2-3 years of experience with Operations Systems required.
- Position will require ability to observe activities throughout the distribution center.
- Majority of effort will be in office environment with significant use of personal computer and various software packages.
- Proficient in Manhattan WMS or similar warehouse management system experience is preferred.
- Competent with Microsoft Office software. Excellent communication and training program management skills.
- Prior experience utilizing Warehouse Management Systems (Manhattan WMS, Infor-M3) required.
