Summary: The Director Financial Accounting is responsible for all aspects of general accounting and the financial close. You will have responsibility for ensuring that the Acushnet financial statements are prepared in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and will bring a high-level of technical subject matter expertise to the team. You will provide leadership to achieve business objectives, build scalable systems and processes, create value and build world class teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Company’s Corporate accounting function, including the monthly financial close process. Optimize internal controls related to the financial close process. Provide ongoing direction to the Financial Accounting group and international finance teams, to support current business objectives and accounting requirements, and ensure career development of associates in the group.
- Solve unique and complex technical accounting issues that have a broad impact on the business. Serve as a business advisor on accounting and reporting matters to the Accounting leadership team, business unit leaders, regional finance directors, and financial planning and analysis teams.
- Identify and report on potential future business, finance, and accounting matters that could impact the company’s financial statements, such as business developments or new accounting standards.
- Develop and report on KPIs that measure the efficiency, effectiveness and health of the Controlling team’s financial accounting processes.
- Responsible for periodic balance sheet and leverage forecasting.
- Participate in strategic initiatives required to execute functional and company goals and objectives, including the adoption of leading-edge technology tools to continuously elevate the performance of the Accounting function.
- Provide leadership to drive functional excellence and global alignment across the Acushnet’s operating entities.
- Participate in Controlling functional management and strategy.
- Lead team building and development activities ensuring a strong pipeline of controlling talent and a robust succession capability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s in Accounting, and CPA or equivalent is required. IFRS experience desirable
- A minimum of 10 years of overall experience and five years of relevant SEC reporting experience with a solid understanding of complex accounting under US GAAP and IFRS is required.
- Either public accounting experience in the audit practice, or a combination of public accounting and private experience required.
- Travel as needed up to 10%.
- Industry experience with a publicly traded multinational consumer products company is preferred.
