    JOB DESCRIPTION

    JOB TITLE: CTE Instructor FLSA STATUS: Exempt
    REPORTS TO: Campus Principal PAY GRADE: TCH
    LOCATION: Adams City High School DAYS: 188

    JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
    Under the general direction of a principal, the CTE Instructor provides leadership in an educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students. Provides supervision to students in a variety of school related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, develops, selects or modifies lesson plans to ensure all student needs are met, and maintains appropriate records and follows all policies and procedures of Adams County School District 14. Provides quality standards-based instruction in a given CTE education focus area, assesses and encourages student progress, and manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement. The work schedule for this position is a traditional school year and the 6 week CTE summer program with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities based on the needs of the partner agencies including organizing a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) and a local industry liaison committee.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Education Level Details
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

    License / Certification Required
    Valid driver's license
    Must hold or be eligible to work toward and receive a Colorado Secondary CTE content specific teaching credential as determined by the Colorado Department of Education.

    Work Experience Required
    Must have a minimum three years of verified paid work experience within the last five years in specific CTE field
    Experience working with at-risk populations preferred
    Must have experience communicating and working with colleagues and support staff on a continual basis and coordinating activities with other members/staff of an organization.

    Other Skills and Abilities Required
    Willing to work flexible hours
    Computer application skills specific to content taught which may include, but are not limited to
    Microsoft Office Suite, Python Coding Language, Google Suite, Adobe Suite, Digital Media, CAD software packages, etc.
    Ability to meet established deadlines
    Have the ability and experience in working with teams.
    Must have experience communicating and working with colleagues and support staff on a continual basis and coordinating activities with other members/staff of an organization.
    Strong communication skills, both orally and written
    Ability to interact with top level officials and all staff with tact, courtesy and diplomacy
    Have the ability and experience in working with teams
    Effective English and Spanish communication skills strongly preferred

    EVALUATION
    Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provision of Adams County School District Board Policy, GCOA-Evaluation of Instructional Staff.

    KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    General
    • Prepare tests, class projects and case studies; grades papers, average grades, prepare grade reports, and coordinate make-up tests and assignments.
    • Prepare lesson plans, prepare lectures, and assist with development and implementation of course syllabus and curriculum.
    • Select textbooks, videos, Internet activities and gather outside project materials.
    • Prepare attendance reports and administer attendance policy
    • Work on assigned committees, attend school-wide events, attend professional development conferences and maintain career and technical education certification, attend faculty meetings, and keep current with inventory and budget.
    • Must maintain industry standards and qualifications for community colleges and develop Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSO's)
    • Ability to collaborate with other Career and Technical Education instructors.

    Instructional Strategies
    • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual students. Design instructional activities which enhance the objectives and which reflect an interdisciplinary/thematic approach to teaching.
    • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by the district, board policies, and administrative regulations.
    • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
    • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
    • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
    • Uses technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process
    • Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
    Student Growth and Development
    • Showcase the academic performance of students.
    • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal assessment.
    • Be a positive role model for students
    • Support mission of the school district.
    Classroom Management and Organization
    • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
    • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct / Student Handbook.
    • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

    Communication
    • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

    Professional Growth and Development
    • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
    • Comply with the Colorado Department of Education, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
    • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
    • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
    • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
    Budget Responsibilities
    • Compile and maintain records of instructional materials and supplies.


    Communication
    • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
    Policy, Reports, and Law
    • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
    • Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the building Principal and the Superintendent of Schools.

    Location: Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations and meeting rooms. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain control under stress. The position requires travel to various campuses, district meeting sites and conferences/meetings in and out of state. The position may require the employee to work some evenings and weekends.
