Job Title: Extractor/Expeller Operator

We are a large, multi-entity agricultural corporation looking for an Oil Plant Operator.
This position will be responsible for equipment troubleshooting and basic equipment repairs for a well-established vegetable oil plant business in the Northern Sacramento Valley.
Essential Functions
- Operate all equipment associated with oil crushing process: including Expeller, Extruder, Extractor, and all supporting equipment.
- Monitor and adjust operation using computerized and controlled systems to meet quality and production requirements.
- Process samples utilizing lab equipment to obtain and record values on a computer spreadsheet and collect samples for several process areas.
- Ensure accurate information of scale weights and transactions are recorded daily.
- Work outdoors in a dusty environment.
- Enter confined spaces under proper permit conditions and supervision.
- Troubleshoot minor problems as required.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for environmental impact of the operation.
- Follow all Adams safety rules and regulations.
- Attend various mandatory safety and department meetings.
- Communicate in a courteous and positive manner to accomplish duties effectively, working as a team with all involved.
- Assist other crush and plant personnel as needed, and will perform any other duty as requested by Management/Supervisors
- Inspect buildings, grounds and equipment utilized by facility; determine immediate and long- range needs for maintenance and repair work. Enter work orders utilizing current maintenance program.
- Operate safely within AVO policy and procedures and fully participate in all Adams safety programs (IIPP, Food Safety, Industrial Safety)
- Be an involved/engaged member of a team and be willing to act and think independently.
- Complete all housekeeping assignments (Master Sanitation Schedule), work to improve the condition of all facility departments, and work as a team member with a positive attitude.
- Maintain a high level of accountability.
- Work extended shifts, as necessary, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Review operations with previous shift operator and supervisor.
- Check operations continually and record readings on a daily log sheet every hour.
- Perform minor maintenance on equipment.
- Must be on time for each shift and stay over until replaced by the next operator.
- Reliability to carry out duties and follow instructions.
- Full knowledge of and compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Full knowledge of and compliance with related to Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Full knowledge of and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work rotating shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays and additional hours beyond regularly scheduled shift to cover vacancies.
- Ability to solve problems and make decision as needed.
- Demonstrated self-starter and high initiative.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Effective communication both written and verbal.
- Basic computer skills.
- Demonstrated work ethic and good attendance records.
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather, climb ladders and work from heights.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a potentially physically strenuous environment.
