Position Summary: The Department of Music at Adams State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment in Piano at the rank of Assistant. The person appointed to this position will teach applied piano lessons and all levels of class piano in addition to biennial courses in Accompanying Practicum and Piano Literature and Pedagogy. The course load is 12 credits per semester. In addition, the individual will share departmental responsibilities with six other full-time faculty, advise students, serve on campus committees, accompany faculty recitals, and be active in departmental recruiting. Other teaching areas may be assigned depending on the qualifications of the candidate and departmental needs. Effective teaching, scholarship, creative activity, and service to the University are required for retention and promotion. and tenure. This is an academic year appointment. Terminal degree in music. ABD considered. 2. A strong focus on teaching, including college teaching experience. 3. Demonstrates knowledge of, sensitivity to, and ability to work effectively with, the educational needs of individuals and groups with a diverse range of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and abilities. 4. Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the racial, socioeconomic, academic, and cultural diversity of Adams State University's student population. including students with different abilities (e.g. physical and or learning) as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded, inclusive practices within the classroom. 5. Demonstrated commitment to honesty, efficacy, and collaboration. Ability or experience working with historically under-served and/or underrepresented populations, and first-generation college students. 3. Ability or experience in the recruitment and/or retention of underrepresented students, including students of color. 4. Commitment to professional development, scholarship, and service to the university and community. 5. Demonstrated self-awareness of one's own cultural beliefs, perspectives, and privileges as a part of one's orientation towards teaching. 6. Demonstrated decision-making that is informed by research, data, and theory and that leverages students' unique cultures, experiences, and backgrounds as strengths. Salary and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $47,580 to $50,544 commensurate with experience and education.
