Summary
The Captain of Bernalillo County BCMC Officer is responsible for management of the BCMC post in the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers and all visitors. The Captain models and upholds the Company and contractual policies and procedures. The Captain is responsible for the overall supervision of the Security Officers at the post.
Essential Tasks (minimum requirements) to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation
- Recruitment of high level security officers to fulfill all posts
- Ensure that an effective schedule is being developed and executed
- Ensure that all officers timesheets are approved and submitted to payroll on time
- Ensure that Security Officers are properly hired and trained to maintain compliance with post requirements.
- Serve as first point of contact for customer relations
- Ensures that all Security Officers are fulfilling their job responsibilities and following proper procedures
- Ensures that all timesheets are delivered to the Corporate Finance Office in a timely manner
- Uphold and oversee corrective action procedures are executed accordingly
- Monitor Security Officers work performance and provide direction and support and training as needed
- Conduct various trainings to include but not limited to: post training, radio training, conflict management, report writing, customer service, employee relations training, x ray training, wanding, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Education, Experience and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required plus any Security/Law Enforcement experience preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Hold a current State of New Mexico Security Guard Card level 1 or higher and maintain in compliance
- Management experience of a minimum of two (2) years (Officer In Charge-OIC- will be credited as one (1) year experience).
- Proficient in Microsoft programs (word, excel) Knowledge of ADP Time Management program.
- Proficient in all for the Metropolitan Court training (e.g. X-ray, wanding, greeter, secondary, patrolling, surveillance room, probation area, guard shack, arraignments, customer service, patrolling)
- Ability to use all security equipment (metal detectors, X-rays, CCTV);
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize each task accordingly
- Maintain a professional and impartial relationship with each guard, court employee and customers
- Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance
- Good working knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures.
- Demonstrated strong English verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures
- Ability write and investigate required reports
- Ability to make independent and good judgment decisions utilizing ADC LTD NM and customer policy and procedures
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping, up to twelve (12) hours per day, either indoors or outdoors, during daytime or nighttime.
- Outdoor posts may require an individual to with stand extreme heat, humidity, cold, or severe weather (e.g., snow, sleet, rain, hail, wind).
- Frequent contact with general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, requiring an ability to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations (e.g., confrontations with angry, distraught, disturbed, or violent persons).
- Ability to remain on post a minimal of four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or relieving bladder or bowels.
- Ability to remain alert with the ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations. Use of all senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch) to discern unusual or dangerous situations.
- Ability to respond to both routine and emergency dispatches and orders.
- Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals, or intervene in a crisis (e.g., provide emergency First Aid or resuscitation while waiting for arrival of paramedics or other emergency personnel).
- Occasional running, sprinting ,lifting heavyweights, moving heavy objects, climbing stairs (e.g., in responding to emergencies, ensuring timely and complete facility evacuations, giving pursuit, etc.).
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full-Time. Monday through Friday to be present during day shift business hours. Evening, night, weekend and Holiday Hours will be required in order to conduct quarterly visits during other shifts to observe and conduct audits.
Travel
On occasion may have to do some day travel within city boundaries.
