Addison Group Los Angeles, in conjunction with our Santa Clarita Valley client, seeks a Payroll Clerk to join their team on a direct hire basis. You will support the Accounting and Human Resources (HR) Departments with payroll processing, benefits, and other accounting duties.
Job – The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for performing daily duties to process payroll. The Payroll Clerk reports to the Payroll Manager.
Job Site Status (Onsite/Hybrid/Remote) – Our client has an onsite work status.
Compensation – Hourly rate is $22-25/hour.
DUTIES OF THE PAYROLL CLERK
Payroll Processing
- Process payrolls on a bi-weekly basis, including validating and reconciling payroll data to ensure accurate payroll payments, reporting, and records
- Validate all salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
- Process all new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
- Intake all employee’s questions on paychecks, direct deposits, and other general payroll questions
- Troubleshoot all discrepancies with payroll issues (paychecks, tax deductions, vacation and sick day accruals, and other payroll issues)
Miscellaneous
- Accept various other duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PAYROLL CLERK
Required
- At least one (1) year of payroll at a company with at least 300 employees
- Multi-State Payroll experience
- Multi-location Payroll experience
- Eligible to work in the United States with the status of a Permanent Resident or US Citizen
Preferred
- Bachelors’ or associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
- Current or previous employment by a restaurant/retail company
- Manual checks experience
- Fluency in Spanish

Required
Technical
- Intermediate Level Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, IF Formulas)
- Intermediate Level Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint
Interpersonal
- Ability to use metrics to maintain and improve the international payroll process
- Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task efficiently and cooperate with fellow professionals in various disciplines and both office and out-of-office environments
- Detail oriented, with high level of ethics and integrity
- Must be willing to develop and grow with the company and have the desire to take on more responsibility
- Superior communication skills (oral, written)
