UX Researcher

Job Title: UX Researcher
Location: Waukesha, WI or Chicago, IL (Onsite)

Responsibilities:

• Proficiently conduct high-quality studies independently, collaborating with key stakeholders throughout the process.
• Conduct discovery research through early usability testing, explaining design thinking and UX research clearly to non-specialists.
• Ideally possess experience in healthcare research, specifically in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or related imaging technologies (e.g., CT, X-Ray, etc.).

Job Description:

• Understand and articulate how research integrates into various stages of the design process, from exploratory efforts to post-launch activities.
• Plan and execute both qualitative and quantitative research, applying a variety of methods such as ethnographic-inspired methodologies, interviews, surveys, card sorts, tree tests, and usability tests.
• Frame, scope, plan, structure, and independently lead UX and Design research projects to address product research needs.
• Select and apply appropriate user research methods to fulfill UX and product research requirements.
• Conduct interview sessions with users and stakeholders, including executives.
• Analyze and synthesize user research findings to extract key insights and implications, linking them together through frameworks, maps, and principles to inform design decisions.
• Present research findings and insights in a compelling manner to inspire design teams and drive imaginative solutions.
• Demonstrate experience in identifying unmet user needs and extracting meaning from diverse and sometimes ambiguous findings.
• Lead teams and users through various research processes, utilizing strong facilitation skills.
• Create and share research artifacts, findings, reports, and recommendations with stakeholders effectively, utilizing storytelling techniques to generate empathy and engagement.
• Propose design changes or features based on research outcomes and influence change.
• Conduct standardized evaluation tests for Edison Design System components, focusing on distance, accessibility, and metaphor.
• Research and evaluate emerging design, technology, and industry trends, advocating for new ideas and approaches when appropriate.
• Communicate design insights and opportunities throughout all stages of the design process and product lifecycle.
• Assist in managing candidate recruitment, approvals, costs, and third-party vendors.
• Participate in usability analysis efforts, including FDA-mandated formative & summative usability testing for healthcare products.
• Bonus: Lead design thinking, co-creation, or service design workshops to guide stakeholders through various aspects of the design thinking process.
