What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lot Assistant position at ADESA?
Reporting to the Operations Manager or designated manager, coordinate efficient traffic flows within assigned area on auction lot; ensure safety of auction staff and customers.
Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to the following:
1. Provide excellent customer service:
§ Ensure customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous attention.
§ Maintain a professional appearance, orderly work environment and team-oriented attitude.
§ Respond to customer inquiries in a positive and professional manner, in person, on the phone, and via email. Escalate any major issues to management immediately.
2. Direct Traffic:
§ Watch traffic flow in assigned area. Based on normal work practices and auction lane reports, advise drivers of safe and efficient routes to intended end-locations.
§ Coordinate directions of traffic—direct drivers to stop/go/take turns in order to safely facilitate auction flows using stop signs, verbal cues, and hand gestures.
§ Communicate with auction staff regarding traffic flows, issues, or inquiries using handheld radios. Request Service Truck assistance as needed. May assist pushing vehicles out of traffic flows, according to safety practices.
3. Maintain work station:
§ Ensure all work area conditions are not a potential threat to employee or customer safety.
§ Respond to and follow proper procedures on employee or customer accidents, injuries, and loss damage to any property.
§ Report all incidents to Supervisors/Managers immediately per auction policy.
4. Other responsibilities:
§ Practice and promote teamwork at all times.
§ Set a good example or attitude and performance.
§ Practice and promote company core values.
Qualifications:
§ Must be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license.
§ High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: The physical activity requirements of the position are from Light to Medium
§ Constant – standing, walking, watching, listening
§ Frequent – grasping, touching and fingering, talking, reaching, feeling
§ Occasional –, pulling, lifting, kneeling, stooping
§ Potential – balancing, crouching, bending, pushing, crawling, climbing, running, jumping, yelling, or other rapid or forceful movement in emergency situations
This position is subject to outside environmental working conditions, including temperature changes, outside weather conditions, slightly elevated ambient noise levels, minor potential physical hazards, such as electrical current , moving mechanical parts, exposure to hot equipment and cleaning and pesticide chemicals; and minor atmospheric conditions affecting skin or respiratory systems, such as fumes, odors and dusts associated with internal and external service station/convenience food and petroleum dispensing operations.
