Job Description
Title: Drainage Tile Foreman
Location: No Physical Location – Traveling Position
Reports To: ADI Field Crew Supervisor
Supervises: 3-5
Works independently or with minimal supervision 90% of the time.
Job Summary:
The Drainage Tile Foreman, formally known as the plow/trencher operator, is responsible for assisting with the installation of subsurface drainage pipe, using pipe-laying machinery. The Drainage Tile Foreman must be safety and quality minded. The
Drainage Tile Foreman must maintain a high standard of excellence with all
finished installations. The Drainage Tile Foreman must use care when moving pipe products to avoid injury to themselves and others and to avoid damaging finished tile and equipment. The Drainage Tile Foreman is responsible for understanding trenching and excavating guidelines set forth by the company and OSHA. The Drainage Tile Foreman supervise 3-5 subordinates to help facilitate the installation process. This job requires working in a seated position for extended periods of time, and exposure to all weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Strict adherence to safe work practices
- Maintain a neat, clean work area
- Safety and wellbeing of the crew
- Installation of subsurface pipe
- Preform proper installation processes
- Prompt, timely, effective communication to Heavy Equipment Operators and
Supervisor regarding problems with product quality
- Prompt, timely, effective communication to Track hoe Operators, Tractor Drivers, and Tile Technician regarding the installation process
- Ensure all pipe products are defect free prior to installation
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment and materials
- Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery equipment, and tools
- Classify soil type
- Adhere to OSHA trenching and excavation standards
Occasional Duties:
- Participates in traffic control
- Shovel dirt and or dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications.
- Assist with minor concrete forming and pouring
- Assist with training new employees
Requirements/Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Construction experience is an asset
- Conscientious attention to detail and quality
- Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors
- Ability to work full time schedule with overtime including overnight travel for up to a week at a time.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate farm type equipment including pickup trucks and tractors
