About the role
California Life Sciences is currently seeking a Director of Sales to join our Business Development team. Territory and geography will focus on East Bay Area Region in Northern California. Candidates must reside within proximity of the sales region.

About the Role:
· The principal functions for the Director of Sales are to prospect, qualify and close new business working with the CLS extended selling teams. To work cross functionally within the organization to support member acquisition and onboarding. Helps to shape the organizations long-term objectives and strengthens internal and external relationships that lead to increased market share. This position ensures the members fully understand and maximize the value of CLS Member Benefits and participating in CLS networking events.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform necessary market research on emerging business trends and track via published literature, trade journals and articles to develop strategies aligned with team goals and objectives.
- Develop and execute comprehensive business plan to identify, engage and recruit new members and partnerships to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI) goals.
- Develop relationships with strategic partners and extended selling team (BIO Business Solutions & CLSAdvantage program partners to support and grow member engagement.
- Onboard and build impactful organizational relationships with new members at all levels.
- Build a robust pipeline and manage all states of sales process.
- Utilize Salesforce.com to track and report sales pipeline and effectively present results to leadership during monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings/calls.
- Collaborate with leadership and Business Development team to develop and implement a sales strategy with monthly updates via Sales Force dashboard.
- Maintain accurate records of engagements and discussions with all member organizations, Incubators, and Innovation Hubs in SalesForce.com.
- Lead generation and follow up maintained in SalesForce.com.
- Participate regularly in weekly team calls to provide updates, market intelligence and collaboration around member needs and status.
- Represent CLS within assigned geography and market segments to support our organizational goals.
- Participate in ongoing membership drives to generate new members and revenue.
- Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, for networking and lead generation as well as keeping abreast of industry trends.
- Field travel minimum 3-4 days a week to include cold calling, networking, and prospecting.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Education and Experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of Sales experience. Experience focused within the Life Sciences sector strongly preferred.
- B.A. or B.S. degree from nationally accredited institution required; degree in related major required
- Project management experience with extensive customer interaction and/or support experience
- May provide administrative and project management support to an executive or multiple executives.
- Utilizes initiative to problem solve and succeeds in evolving environments.
- Demonstrated record of sound political judgment and bipartisanship
