In this role, you will define patterns and best practices to ensure AWS solutions can scale, are highly available, and are always performant while maintaining costs.
To thrive in this role, you have ten-plus years of experience in architecture, design, and building large-scale distributed services-oriented systems will be essential to your success. You'll be versatile knowledge of Jenkins, Dynatrace, Ansible, Terraform, Python, or other. If you get stuck, you find a workaround and keep going. You never give up. This role requires you to have clear, compelling, and influential communication skills to succeed. You will constantly mentor developers and collaborate with peer architects on other teams. You must be adept at teaching, leading, and influencing. As part of our team, you will influence product success and obsess over customer and developer experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO: Here's what you can expect on a typical day:
Blueprints and Strategy. You will influence and govern current and future architectural blueprints and promote architectural initiatives that improve application resiliency, improve efficiency, and support our business strategy. You will ensure that what we do solves both enterprise and local needs.
Challenges. Inevitable challenges will arise, and we'll rely on you to look for a solution. You love a challenge and revel in the opportunity of finding one.
Learning and Teaching. You're the technical expert on the team and keep your pulse on the latest Public Cloud trends. When issues arise, you'll be the one developing a fix. When you present a design, you are open to feedback from your engineering team since you believe collaboration helps strengthen your ideas, especially if someone thought of something you hadn't considered. After all, we all have the same goal, develop the best solutions we can for our clients.
Variety of work. There is no typical day. Some days you will dedicate to design or mentoring team members, while others you will spend on a deep drive into complex performance and availability related issues, or many other functions, including:
Responsible for designing, documenting, implementing, and maintaining Cloud best practices and solutions.
Lead migration efforts from on-premises to the Cloud by advising on application assessment, migration and modernization.
Work with a team of DevOps/SecOps Engineers to design and implement AWS solutions with the responsibility to ensure Reliability is maintained.
Provide recommendations to optimize AWS usage costs by analyzing usage patterns and trends while providing recommendations for consolidating instance types based on demand.
Maintain an understanding of advancing cloud capabilities, IT and business needs, while identifying and proposing cost and functional efficiency options for the collaborative decisions and actions.
Create and maintain a resiliency roadmap of architectural enhancements according to the Business' requirements around Application availability and performance.
Experience. You have 10 years of experience in relevant skills gained and developed in the same or similar role.
**TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:**
Prior experience that would give you extra comfort in the role includes:
Proficiency with CICD, GIT, Jenkins, Artifactory, YAML, and Python
Proficiency in Site Reliability Engineering and DevOps/SecOps practices
Proficiency in Dynatrace APM and Prometheus
Proficiency with RDBMS/NoSQL databases, and AWS RDS
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification from one of the major Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google)
5 years' experience with solutions delivery using well-architected cloud frameworks, services, and technologies
Experience migrating applications from on-premises to the Cloud.
