We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Java Backend Engineer to join our dynamic technology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing robust backend services with a strong focus on scalability and performance. You will play a critical role in architecting enterprise-level applications and ensuring their successful deployment and operation in a cloud environment, particularly using AWS services.

Compensation & Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $112,000 - $168,000 and is based on experience and qualifications.
Certain roles are eligible for annual bonus and may include equity. These awards are allocated based on company and individual performance.
We offer employees access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits and paid time off among others. Employees accrue up to 120 hours in their first year. Your accrual rate increases after your first year. We also offer 6 paid holidays.

What You'll Do:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Java Backend Engineer to join our dynamic technology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing robust backend services with a strong focus on scalability and performance. You will play a critical role in architecting enterprise-level applications and ensuring their successful deployment and operation in a cloud environment, particularly using AWS services.
- Develop and maintain scalable and robust backend APIs using Java and Spring Boot framework.
- Implement clean, efficient, and well-documented code to meet the functional and non-functional requirements of the business.
- Design data models and system architectures to support high-volume and high-velocity data.
- Utilize AWS cloud services effectively to deploy and scale applications, including but not limited to EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, and ECS.
- Implement and manage continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using AWS tools and other modern deployment technologies.
- Monitor AWS resource utilization and implement cost-saving strategies to optimize spending.
- Architect solutions to be highly performant with an emphasis on response time, throughput, and scalability.
- Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various deployed systems.
- Implement caching mechanisms and use AWS services to enhance application performance.
- Design, build, and manage Docker containers for a seamless development, testing, and deployment environment.
- Leverage Kubernetes or AWS ECS for orchestrating containerized applications, ensuring they are scalable and resilient.
- Ensure applications comply with industry standards and security guidelines to safeguard sensitive data.
- Implement security practices around APIs and data storage to prevent vulnerabilities.
- Work closely with front-end developers, UX designers, and project managers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and engineers in the team.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and contribute to the development of best practices within the team.
- Keep abreast of new technology trends in Java development, cloud services, containerization, and other relevant areas.
- Evaluate new technologies and tools as opportunities for innovation and development excellence.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Java backend development, including extensive experience with Spring Boot.
- Proven experience with AWS cloud services and managing scalable applications in the cloud.
- Strong expertise in designing and working with microservices architectures and RESTful API development.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar container orchestration frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to tackle issues with innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) preferred.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or MongoDB preferred.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools preferred.
