Anduril Imaging System Engineers are responsible for system architecture definition, trade analyses, and modeling/validating system performance for land, sea, air, and space EO/IR applications. The team is seeking an EO/IR System Engineer to lead the system development of an infrared wide area imaging product line.
In this role, you will lead trade studies to define EO/IR system architectures based on detailed performance modeling of the imaging chain, lead the multidisciplinary detailed design, analysis, and integration and test of EO/IR prototypes and products. You will lead a small team of engineers from concept ideation through system definition and development.
A successful candidate will have experience defining and delivering scanning optical systems, understands the end-to-end imaging chain including object phenomenology, atmospheric effects, optical system image quality, detector performance and image processing.

US Salary Range
$170,000 - $255,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead system architecture trade studies of EO/IR wide area imaging systems
- Develop end-to-end EO/IR performance models including, but not limited to object and atmospheric radiometry, optical system image quality, detector and electronics performance, image processing, and platform performance
- Adapt or derive physics-based models of sensor system performance and derive requirements based on those models
- Develop scanning concept of operations for wide area coverage systems (ie: step-stare vs TDI)
- Derive requirements for detailed system design based on the trade studies and performance models
- Support both laboratory-based and field-based experiments and demonstrations
- Lead and manage small teams of engineers, as necessary
- Engage technically with the hardware, software, and mission teams to define, integrate, and deliver high performance systems to our customers
- Validate models against laboratory and real world data
- Coordinate and communicate with both external & internal stakeholders with varying degrees of technical background
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 8 years of experience with complex EO/IR systems, performing architecture definition, performance modeling, requirements allocations, as well as laboratory and field testing.
- Strong knowledge and experience with radiometric modeling
- Experience defining and/or designing scanning optical systems
- Advanced proficiency in an analytical toolchains/languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python)
- Model development and validation relevant to EO/IR remote sensing
- Ability to decompose complex systems into functional parts, with clearly defined interfaces and requirements for each
- Experience in system design and development from initial concept through test and delivery to customer
- Strong laboratory skills (e.g. design of experiments)
- Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance
- Willingness to travel to test sites, as needed.
- Knowledge of current and next-generation advanced sensing systems and platforms
- Advanced sensing domain experience (e.g., EO/IR, LIDAR)
- Experience with image processing techniques for EO/IR sensors
- Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team through design trades while meeting program deadlines
- Experience with MBSE techniques (e.g. Cameo, SysML, etc)
- Experience with signature and/or scenario modeling/software packages (MODTRAN, SPIRITS, AFSIM)
