Retail Asset Protection & Environmental Health and Safety Manager (Retail AP/EHS Manager)
Job Description Summary:
The Retail Asset Protection & Environmental Health and Safey Manager (AP/EHS Manager) reports directly to the Director of AP/EHS. They are an integral member of the retail leadership team for the market they cover and are responsible for leading the efforts that ensure the safety and security of our stores for both TMs and customers. The AP/EHS Manager is responsible for risk mitigation, planning and providing real-time support and communication should security breaches and/or critical events arise. They are accountable for controlling and managing their respective market’s shrink, safety performance, inventory management metrics and fraud/abuse. This position requires the ability to influence, teach, coach and train others. In addition, the AP/EHS Manager is responsible for ensuring operational and procedural compliance, auditing, conducting investigations, managing, and proposing solutions to mitigate losses as well as presenting findings to leadership. Core duties and responsibilities of the position are outlined below:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Implement strategy in partnership with Vice President of Operations (VPO) to execute programs which support areas of safety, profitability, and inventory excellence.
- Manage VPO territory Shrink and Outlier Program to include analyzing trends, determining root cause, devising improvement strategies, and providing recommendations to address opportunities and gaps in execution.
- Participate in Regional and District visits and calls as necessary, to strengthen partnerships and improve the overall awareness of the AP/EHS Department’s efforts and initiatives.
- Assist with property protection controls, including fire protection, CCTV, burglar alarm, safes, and locks/keys.
- Perform comprehensive audits of assigned market to analyze business operations and ensure policy and procedural compliance.
- Effectively communicate loss and safety trends to operators
- Conduct investigations/interviews related to fraud/policy abuse or other losses to the organization.
- Partner with AAP’s Risk and Claims staff to address specific along with current and long-term claims trends to reduce the frequency and severity of identified hazards.
- Use of Secure Store exception-based reporting software to identify areas of loss or exposure within the company.

- Proficient knowledge of accepted internal investigation processes and methodologies in a retail environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
- Must be self-motivated with highly effective time management skills.
- Must have solid conflict management skills with the ability to work alone in stressful situations.
- Ability to work nights, evenings, and weekends appropriate to retail business needs.
Recommended Experience/Training
- Asset Protection/Loss Prevention
- OSHA VPP experience a plus
- Retail operations – multi unit experience preferred
- CFI/CFE/LPQ/LPC
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A) from four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Wicklander-Zulawski certified (or obtain within 3 months of hire)
Other Qualifications: ·
- Up to 60% overnight travel may be required to complete the requirements associated with this position.
Compensation Range
81,000.00 USD PER YEAR - 94,500.00 USD PER YEAR
