What is a Salesperson?
At Advance Auto Parts, a Salesperson is the gatekeeper for ensuring that each customer has a superior shopping experience. The Salesperson works to make legendary service the trademark at Advance Auto Parts. Key Duties and Responsibilities
•Stock merchandise
•Install windshield washers, test and install batteries
•Operate POS (Point of Sale) equipment
•Produce consistently high sales averages and work to exceed daily individual and store targets; maintain an awareness of and achieve maximum results on all promotions and advertisements
•Develop and maintain comprehensive product knowledge
•Maintain security and safety throughout the store at all times
•Maintain high standards of customer service and housekeeping
•Execute merchandise moves, stocking and display with high housekeeping standards
•Monitor inventory levels to ensure maximum profitability and product availability
•Participate in inventories and periodic cycle counts
•Demonstrate an eagerness to be a team player and assist in other functions as assigned by the store management team, including, but not limited to: cleaning, operating POS equipment, truck loading/unloading, etc.
Essential Job Skills Necessary for Success as a Salesperson
•Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers and management
•Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals
•Use basic math accurately: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
•Strong organizational skills
•Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed
Prior Experience that Sets a Salesperson up for Success
2-3 years of successful sales experience in a diverse retail environment, providing superior customer experiences
Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
