Receiving Inspector IV
Overview:
Perform visual, mechanical and electrical inspections of complex parts, materials, and subassemblies using engineering drawings and specifications, assembly procedures and quality requirements. Serve as an area leader coordinating and delegating inspection activities.
What you’ll do:
- Serve as an area leader coordinating and delegating inspection activities. Ensures inspection activities are prioritized according to established practices.
- Support in-process inspection objectives by ensuring a stable and consistent workflow and resolving issues in a participative, proactive, and positive manner.
- Train new inspectors on parts of advanced complexity and assembly procedures.
- Provide guidance and technical support to lower level inspectors.
- Perform visual, mechanical and electrical inspections of parts, materials, and subassemblies using engineering drawings and specifications, assembly procedures and quality requirements.
- Interpret of complex engineering drawings and specifications.
- Record and interpret inspection data to verify compliance to quality requirements.
- Prepare non-conformance reports and other reports as needed.
- Collect, interpret, and evaluate product conformance to requirements.
- Fulfill some supervisory activities in the absence of the department manager/supervisor.
- Other activities and projects may be assigned as necessary.
What you bring to the team:
Special Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedures, work instructions, inspection instructions, technical specifications and literature.
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications of advanced complexity.
- Ability to objectively analyze information and make acceptance or rejection judgments based on drawings, specifications, written instructions, commodity type, and the part's form, fit, and function characteristics.
- Working knowledge of medical device manufacturing operations and the associated regulatory requirements is required.
- Can apply advanced inspection techniques with microscopes, pin gauges, calipers, micrometers, electronic measurement equipment, and other measurement and test equipment.
- Strong understanding of statistical concepts and applications. Can reach statistically sound conclusions of basic data sets. Can create worksheets for data collection, summarize data, prepare, and analyze charts and graphs.
- Experienced in the inspection of moderately complex to complex mechanical and electronic components and assemblies.
- Aptitude, patience, and ability to train new inspectors on parts of moderate complexity.
- Ability to detect non-normal cosmetic discrepancies and identify unusual trends and provide recommendations for resolution and facilitate the improvement process, and follow-up to verify effectivity.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Access programs and SAP
- Ability to complete inspection data sheets, non-conformance reports, and related inspection documentation.
- Strong communication skills. Ability to give presentations and communicate situations, problems, and possible solutions to peers and management.
- Ability to analyze and provide logical solutions to basic problems involving multiple variables.
Education
- Associates degree or equivalent experience
Work Experience
- Five or more years of experience in Quality control function with emphasis on inspection or in-process quality.
Certifications
- IPC-600 and 610 Certified
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Training desired
- ASQ Certification desired but not a requirement
- Lean training desired
