Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for submitting medical claims to insurance companies and ensuring timely reimbursement for medical services rendered.
Responsibilities:
- Review and verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies
- Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
- Utilize medical billing software to process claims
- Research and appeal denied claims
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance requirements
- Communicate with patients, insurance carriers, and healthcare providers regarding billing issues
Requirements:
- Proven 1 year experience as a Medical Biller or similar role with processing dental, medical, prescription, or mental health claims using phones and computers as the primary job tools
- High School diploma / GED (or higher) OR equivalent work experience
- Proficiency with Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to navigate multiple programs and learn new and complex computer system applications
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG coding, and medical collection practices
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Certification in Medical Billing is a plus
This is a challenging role that takes an ability to thoroughly review, analyze and research complex medical claims in order to identify discrepencies, verify pricing, obtain prior authorizations, make contractual adjustments to invoices, and receive payements to patient accounts. You'll need to be comfortable navigating across various computer systems to locate critical information. Attention to detail is critical to ensure accuracy, which will impact the timely processing and payment for the patient claims.
