Power Management Architect- 133122
The role:
You get to work with a world-class microprocessor team, architecting the next generation of power-efficient designs in AMD client products ranging from cutting edge premium desktops to notebooks with high performance Radeon graphics!
The person:
You must be a self-starter and work with minimum supervision to drive assignments to completion. Innovative problem solving skills with a strong attention to detail are a must. You need to understand the big picture, as well as comprehend the fine technical details.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing and driving innovative and aggressive techniques to enhance power efficiency and performance optimization in AMD products from early definition stages, through design implementation and backend system validation.
- This position plays a key role in defining complex power management architecture and features, modeling and characterizing system power utilizing realistic use cases and customer scenarios, and supports backend post-silicon bring-up validation, characterization and productization.
- You will closely collaborate with other system/SOC (System on a Chip) hardware and IP architects, chip logic and physical designers, firmware, BIOS, OS, software developers as well as validation engineers.
- More experienced architects will also have a role mentoring junior engineers.
Preferred experience:
- Knowledge and experience with CPU, GPU, IO and computer architecture.
- An understanding of power concepts and how to apply them to generate power efficient designs is essential for this position.
- Familiarity with the chip end to end design process and platform power measurement tools are also key.
- Modeling, programming skills in either C or C and scripting with Perl and Python are a plus.
- Strong teaming skills will enhance the candidate’s competitiveness with experience working in and/or leading large cross functional teams.
- Finally, candidates must be familiar with using both Windows and UNIX platforms.
Academic credentials:
Candidates with a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science are encouraged to apply.
