JOB SUMMARY: The Warehouse Lead is responsible for overseeing shipping activities on a daily basis, which includes the picking/preparation of products, verifying order picks, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all relative equipment and maintaining shipping documents. This position requires teamwork, cooperation and leadership. It is the expectation that the individual in this position contribute to a positive working environment in a supervisory role. This person will be able to manage their time well and take initiative in leading a team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all materials handling equipment
- Provide feedback to Warehouse Supervisor on performance and attendance issues of other warehouse team members as needed
- Ensure the optimal utilization of space throughout warehouse
- Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area
- Assure the integrity of the inventory and conduct physical inventories
- Train full-time and temporary staff
- Complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion
- Ensure all goods are shipped correctly according to the packing slip
- Ensure all packaged product meets or exceeds required product quality criterion
- Drive forklift to gather required product for customer orders and load transport vehicles
- Perform other warehouse related tasks as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Previous warehouse experience
- Supervisory experience
- Knowledge and compliance of all personal protective equipment and the use of machinery
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and ERP systems
- Ability to embrace lean enterprise principles and practices
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to move quickly through warehouse and production facility
- Occasional requirement to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Continual driving of the forklift between the warehouses
- Ability to lift up to 50-70 pounds
WORK CONDITIONS:
The work environment has a high volume of noise – earplugs are provided. Steel-toed boots are required. The incumbent is regularly exposed to airborne particles and outside weather conditions. Care must be taken as large objects are moved in the area at all times.
