Advantage|ForbesBooks has an exciting opportunity for an editorial professional with experience in book writing, editing, and publishing in the Healthcare, Finance or the Entrepreneur sector. Advantage|ForbesBooks works with top-tier professionals to position, promote, and market them as the thought leader and expert in their industry, community, or marketplace.

The mission of the Editorial Manager (EM) is to serve as THE responsible party for ensuring that the caliber of editorial excellence is second to none for all books published by their publishing team. The EM will be the final signoff on the editorial content and will be responsible for overseeing the book outline, the developmental and line edits, and the execution of all manuscript reviews for their team.

Expected Outcomes

  • Serve as editorial head and assist with the completion of 60 book projects annually. Our C-level clients require precise execution of the deliverables in their Publishing Plan. You will organize, plan, and manage the execution of the editorial process in the Publishing Plan. This requires excellent communication skills and an ability to manage changes in timing, budget, and scope.
  • Ensure >95% of editorial projects for publishing plans are delivered at or below budget. Manage client budgets and reporting for your account team. Each Publishing Plan client has a gross margin target for all editorial deliverables. Coordinate the resources of your editorial team, and track and monitor costs.
  • <5% of clients get stalled in an editorial phase. Coach and assist clients through all editorial phases of their project.
  • 100% of all editorial reviews are completed within project timeline. Review all manuscripts in accordance with project timeline and guarantee editorial excellence in all manuscripts.
  • NPS Score of >53. Assist your publishing team in delivering world class service and creating an “Enjoyable, Fun, and Prosperous membership experience” for each client.

Preferred Skills and Experiences

  • Experience in editorial is a MUST. Preferred experience categories include business, finance, marketing, management, motivation, self-help, biography, and autobiography.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition and an expert in best practices in grammar, messaging, writing, and style
  • Must have an outstanding command of the English language
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the book publishing industry
  • Excellent grasp of the editorial process
  • Manage multiple projects at different stages, while meeting deadlines and ensuring high quality standards
  • Management experience including hiring, oversight, and performance reviews

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is located in our Charleston, South Carolina office. Team Members are eligible for health, dental and vision benefits the first day of the month after thirty (30) days of employment. Eligibility for all other benefits is at ninety (90) days of employment.
