The qualified candidate knows both CICS and has knowledge of how applications are developed & work within a CICS environment.

Our mainframe team is a technology enabler for the business by providing a strong, resilient, and stable platform to host and enable business innovation/growth in our lines of business and global locations. The team consist of experienced administration, operations and engineering staff required to support the platform. The mainframe engineers work with the latest hardware and software technologies. The IBM z platform and the mainframe disk and tape technologies are frequently refreshed across our datacenters.
The Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer is responsible for all phases of CICS engineering, system and software maintenance, and CICS related operation functions. In order to be considered for this role you must be comfortable working with CICS (and MQ) in an enterprise scale Sysplec and CICSPlex environment. The CICS engineer must have strong, analytical, organizational and communication skills as well as in-depth knowledge in CICS performance and tuning, debugging and dump analysis.

Required experience:
A minimum of 10 years working as a CICS Programmer / Engineer
Knowledge of all CICS parameters that control performance in a CICSPlex environment.
Knowledge of SMP/E, software upgrade and maintenance.
In depth and knowledge of CICS SMF record structure and the CICS Performance Analyzer tool to gather statistics for tuning CICS regions
Experience with CICSPlex SM implementation & customization, dynamic transaction routing, etc.
Ability to perform problem determination, dump analysis and performance tuning
Experienced with the CICS monitoring tool, Sysview
Knowledge of Cobol to support application developers
Experience with mainframe WebSphere MQ

Desired/preferred experience:

Assembler and COBOL coding and knowledge of CICS Exits
Web application support in a CICS TS V5 environment
Knowledge of zOS facilities such as: APF, Linklist, VSAM, LPA, Coupling Facility
Experience with CICS Interdependency Analyzer tool
Knowledge of Natural language & Adabas
Prior Application programming experience
