Hazardous Waste Specialist (2nd Shift)
We are currently looking for Hazardous Waste Specialists for 2nd (evening) shifts who will assist with the development and implementation of procedures to ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Responsibilities :
- Transfer waste materials to proper containers with labeling.
- Work with Titanium etchant stabilization crew, help operate Titanium treatment system.
- Follow procedures for the safe handling, storage, and disposal of waste chemical materials.
- Conduct inspections to ensure all waste(s) are properly labeled and stored.
- Work with spill response team in the event of a hazardous spill or release.
- Arrange and oversee hazardous waste shipments to include signing manifests as needed.
- Contact vendors for hazardous waste supplies as needed.
Skills and Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials on site removal procedures and techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to obtain Hazwoper training and certification.
- Must be able to work well in a team setting as well as alone.
- Good record keeping and monitoring skills.
Bonus skills that would be beneficial (not a must)
- Massachusetts Grade 2 I / M or higher Wastewater Operators License.
- Metals precipitation experience is a bonus.
Physical Requirements :
- Must be able to move 55-gallon drums, lift and carry 50-pound bags of dry chemicals up or down 15 steps.
- Must be able to remain standing 75% of the workday. Constant handling, gripping, grasping.
- Frequent exposure to chemicals, excessive noises, slippery or uneven walking surfaces, water, hazardous materials, and noise;
May work at heights and in inclement weather conditions.
- Must be able to work for extended periods in protective clothing.
- Pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and lifting may be required.
