Work Hours/Shift:
Two 8 hour shifts (7 am to 3 pm) and Two 12 hour shifts (7 pm to 7 pm)
You Will Be Responsible For:
- Verifies the patient order.
- Properly uses the scanner for positive patient identification 100% of the time. Accurately identifies the patient using two hospital approved patient identifiers, name and DOB.
- Properly labels all specimens with the correct patient label at the patient’s bedside to assure accuracy of results.
- Accurately accessions in all specimens within the specified time frame from downloaders on the nursing units/departments.
- Places patient sample in the appropriate department for processing.
- Answers all pages/spectra link phones within 4 rings. If with a patient will call the accession room immediately when free.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform PKU and heal sticks meeting the requirements of the state of Florida guidelines and without rejection.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform blood cultures without reported contamination. Sends cultures to lab within 1 hour.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Phlebotomist-one to six months training.
- National Phlebotomy Technician Certification
- AHA BLS-Certified
Job Summary:
Performs blood draws for accurate and timely Laboratory Testing. Coordinating the day to day phlebotomy operations of the laboratory into a comprehensive, centralized and efficient process for the laboratory and Pathology departments.
