We're looking for someone to join our team as a System Educator, Clinical Documentation Integrity who:

Serves the Adventist Health clinical documentation integrity (CDI) department system wide. Designs, develops, assesses, plans, implements, and offers education with consideration to consistent education methodologies and formats, process improvement, and change management. Participates in future planning and strategic development for system educational CDI needs. Areas of greatest concern include but are not limited to provider and CDI education, policy development, program development, system level and campus level audits, and quality improvement efforts. Works under general supervision from the CDI Leadership and utilizes critical thinking skills, organization skills, Microsoft suite. Reporting directly to CDI leadership; with ability to engage with provider and site leadership. Provides outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

  • Participates in assessing overarching CDI and Provider educational needs through active participation and oversite of education committees, audits, evaluation, and other tools. Participates in educating CDI associates on how better to perform duties & delivering other CDI related information. Participates in the design and development and maintenance of content for orientation and onboard both CDI associates and providers, training on best onboarding practices, and delivery of education at large. Works with program leadership to schedule, plan, develop, implement, and maintain clinical documentation education curriculums/topics for providers. Educates providers on proper documentation practices and expectations. Keeps abreast of regulatory changes related to documentation and coding and communicates these changes to appropriate staff in a positive and supportive manor. Follows documentation guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory bodies.

    Essential Functions:


    • Designs, develops, produces, and delivers training for CDI specialists on an ongoing basis. Identifies and coordinates education opportunities for CDI staff including webinars and continuing education. Oversees all CDI education committees and subcommittees. Participates with reviews and revisions to CDI Policies and Job Descriptions annually, or as needed. Provides additional education for CDI staff and providers based on data review. Assists CDI Leadership team in the development of physician and Allied Health provider education.
    • Collaborates with CDI leadership, coding, and Physician Advisors to identify provider education needs while keeping the teams informed. Works with other departments to support CDI processes. Attends necessary meetings to receive feedback and requests for education. Coordinates provider education rollouts. Creates physician and/or clinician education materials and tip sheets, and other materials as needed. Manages provider education repository. Prepares and presents formal educational presentations to providers. Mentors' providers and Physician Champions on CDI processes. Assists in onboarding new physicians to educate them on CDI processes and expectations. Analyzes data to determine where additional provider education is needed. Subject matter expert (SME) for clinical documentation integrity/improvement education, available to any departments requiring CDI education, Communicates appropriately and effectively with all involved parties.
    • Assists with managing, developing and coaching the second level CDI documentation quality reviewers (DQR), and preceptors for the CDI department. Coordinates with coding and other departments to offer clinical documentation integrity/improvement education. Reviews claim denials pertaining to documentation and clinical validation issues for education opportunities.
    • Oversee all CDI education committees and subcommittees.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

You'll be successful with the following qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or other healthcare related field: Required
  • Master's degree in nursing education (MSN) or related health care related field: Preferred

Work Experience:

  • Five years clinical documentation experience: Required
  • Three years clinical experience: Required
  • Experience educating in a healthcare or Clinical Documentation Integrity setting: Required

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP): Required
  • Current licensed RN, medical provider or equivalent: Required

The estimated base pay for this position is $114,359 to $171,538. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through years of experience, differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
