Job Summary :
Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Performs a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Assists in the daily functioning of the department. Assists leadership with compliance monitoring as needed. Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary.
Job Requirements :
Education and Work Experience :
- High School Education / GED or equivalent : Preferred
- Associate’s / Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education / related experience : Preferred
- Three years' technical experience : Preferred
Licenses / Certifications :
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification : Preferred
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification : Required
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification : Preferred
Essential Functions :
Assists the Registered (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
Keeps the unit organized with the help of the entire team.
Develops tools to monitor compliance for assuring all supplies and equipment are fully stocked and equipment is functioning and ready for use.
Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
- Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care. Observes, documents and reports patient condition and changes in condition to the RN, MD / Provider.
- Assures new hires have the proper orientation and training. Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
- Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations. Records and collects specimens.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
