What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at Adventure Ocala, LLC?
We're seeking a Lifeguard to join our team. As our new Lifeguard you will:
- Maintain watch over the swimming area ensuring a secure and safe environment
- Employ accident prevention by enforcing recreation area rules and regulations
- Respond to all injuries, incidents, and emergencies
- Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the swimming area
- Meet and greet ALL customers
- Meet or exceed customers’ expectations
- Engage the visitor to increase their experience level
- Support any Interpretive programs
- Provide recreation and local area information to customers
- Monitoring and reporting facilities for repair and safety needs
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the position and/or to be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with Adventure Ocala, United States Forest Service, and the public
- Possess strong verbal communication skills to ensure exceptional customer service, including conflict resolution skills
- Must adhere to streamlined processes put forth by the administrative staff
- The ability to independently respond to any emergencies according to protocol as they arise
The Ideal Candidate would have:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Available for three or four shifts per week of 10a.m. to 6p.m. between May 15 and September 15, 2023; Training available April 25-27, 2023
- Current accredited Lifeguarding Certification or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire;
- Prior experience lifeguarding not required
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Environment: Work is performed primarily at the campground or recreational area; incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings, weekends and holidays and may be required to attend meetings.
- Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate to heavy amounts of weight; to operate building maintenance equipment requiring repetitive hand movement.
