Position Requirements:
MLS/Medical Technologist
Specialty in Blood Banking
Preferred.
2 years of experience in stem cell/ bone marrow processing laboratory.
Former or current assessor for
AABB or CAP preferred. Communication, problem solving, leadership, decision making, and interpersonal.
Working knowledge of procedures and equipment used in sections supervised.
Fiscal and budgeting knowledge.
Familiarity with fundamental statistics of quality control in the laboratory.
Experience with LIS and personal computers.
Familiarity with fundamental
regulatory standards of
Accrediting Organization, FACT, CAP, OSHA, and other agencies. Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist by ASCP or equivalent Ability to travel throughout the Advocate and ACL service area.
Flexible hours.
Performs delegated management responsibilities as required.
Active participation in various committees as requested by supervisor or pathologists.
Exposure to hazardous biological or chemical substances and infectious agents.
20~25 lb of supplies or products.
Purpose:
To act as a Program Coordinator for the Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplant Cell Processing Laboratory at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. To oversee and perform diagnostic testing and related responsibilities as well as demonstrate an understanding of scientific theories and techniques of procedures performed. The incumbent will assist in coordinating all technical, logistical and administrative functions to ensure prompt testing and reporting of results for clinical laboratory samples within established timeframes. This role is to ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements for the Cell Processing Laboratory. Additionally, the Cell Processing Coordinator executes on accreditation and approval requirements for 3rd party affiliates.
