Neuro Coordinator
Full time - 7am or 8am until 4:30pm to 5pm. M-F, possible for TM to work 1 day remote.
To provide optimum access to the Neuro and Spine services for patients and referring physicians. To create a physician focused, solution driven and value added process to assist with Neuro & Spine continuum of care, outpatient specialty appointments and therapies. Takes a leadership role in resolving barriers to accessing patient services and takes appropriate actions and timely measures to promote and enhance positive relationships with referring physicians and patients.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assists physicians by facilitating access to programs within the Neuro, Spine and related services:
1)As requested by the care team or physician, ensures access and timely patient appointments for outpatient specialty programs, referral to physician specialty appointments, therapies, diagnostic testing and other clinical services.
2)Takes a leadership role in resolving barriers to timely access to clinical services.
3)Collaborates with Clinical Departments, Scheduling, Physician Specialists, and Hospital Leadership to arrange clinical services.
4)Coordinates a process for cross departmental referral as clinically indicated during the patient assessment process.
5)Conducts rounds daily with all neurosurgery and spine inpatients.
6)Conducts daily follow-up calls on all outpatients to facilitate the continuum of care process.
Identifies areas for operational process improvement to streamline access to clinical services.
1)Exercises sound judgment to solve problems and make decisions.
2)Acts as a liaison to the Neurosurgery and Spine physicians, and departmental leadership.
3)Presents and advances the clinical and administrative concerns of physicians and referral sources to the appropriate internal and external group for positive resolutions.
4) Initiates and participates in Performance Improvement activities with departments to improve access to clinical services.
5) Provides support to internal committees and organizational initiatives as requested.
6) Develops metrics and utilizes data to support decisions and processes.
7)Assists in the collection of data for quality and operational improvements measures for all areas of the Neuro and Spine Services.
- Promotes the use of site(s) to physicians, assesses and monitors referral patterns of physicians.
1) Maintains data base.
2) Documents and reports activities, physician satisfaction with access to clinical services and market intelligence.
3)Complies with industry standards and guidelines, regulatory agency requirements and policies and procedures of Advocate HealthCare.
4)Supports growth initiatives to meet or exceed budgeted volumes.
- Provides exceptional customer service to increase physician satisfaction with access to neurosurgery and spine clinical services, strengthen physician loyalty and create an environment that is responsive to physicians.
1)Works with physicians and hospital clinical service leaders to ensure clinical services are easily accessible within the referral relationship and referral relationships are retained.
2)Responds promptly to physician requests for assistance with access to clinical services.
3)Takes appropriate actions to promote and enhance positive relationships with physicians and their office staff. Fosters positive business relationships to provide optimal access to orthopedic and spine institute patient services.
4)Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with the Medical Staff to improve clinical outcomes through access to clinical services.
5)Develops and communicates value of orthopedic and spine services to referring physicians.
- Responsible for day to day coordination of the Neurodiagnostic department (EEG/EMG):
- 1) Responsible for daily department schedule and operations.
2) Manages and troubleshoots technical equipment to maintain proper functioning essential to diagnostic testing. Partners resourcefully with vendors, healthcare technology management, information technology and other departments to assure fluid processes.
3) Ensures effective scheduling and staffing of teammates.
Education/Experience Required:
- - High school diploma required. - At least 1yr of college coursework required. - 5 years hospital or healthcare based experience. - Medical terminology

- If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
