Unit 7C Burn Trauma ICU

Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:2-1:3

Common diagnoses/Types of patients Trauma, burns, respiratory distress, cardiac arrest

Experience or 'Must have' skills Experience with Category 1 Traumas, ICU trained

We can accept candidates without burn experience but with trauma experience. We are also okay if they do not have CRRT experience. It is preferred but not required. I just want to reiterate we are okay with taking on new travelers as long as they have ICU experience.

Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes

Common titratable &/or set rate drips Amiodarone, Nimbex, Cleviprex, Precedex, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Epinephrine, Esmolol, Fentanyl, Ketamine, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Ativan, Versed, Morphine, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin, Levophed, Neo-synephrine, Propofol, Vasopressin, Vecuronium, Heparin, Insulin.

Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? N/A. We are set up with a free charge model, but charge will take a team at times based on staffing. Candidates will not be asked to be charge.

Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios 1 PCT and 1 Unit Secretary are staffed per shift.

Hospitalist or Intensivist in house We will work with multiple specialties including but not limited to Trauma, Springfield Clinic Intensivists, SIU Intensivists, and Neuro Critical Care. Some of the intensivists are in house while others have senior residents in house and the intensivists are on call.

RT in ICU 24/7 RT is staffed in ICU 24/7.

RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) Vents, Bipap, Optiflow, nonrebreathers, Nasal Cannula.

Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? RNs must be able to read their own strips. Monitors are Dragers.

Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) Nightshift every other weekend. Block scheduling can be discussed but not guaranteed.

Weekend Requirements Every Other Weekend

Holiday Requirements 1 Winter or 1 Summer holiday depending where contract falls.

Is there a call or standby requirement? N/A

Floating Requirements Travelers will be the first to float off of the unit. We float to all other ICUs (Medical, Neuro, Cardiac) as well as IMC.

Scrub Color/Dress Code Any scrub color is allowed. Plain t-shirts or memorial brand t-shirt are also okay.

Unit/Department specific orientation ICU specific competency validation tool will be reviewed with agency RN during orientation.
