The Role:
The BI&A Data Scientist (YOU?!) is a highly motivated individual with a passion for analytics, data science, and helping organizations learn from data. You will work with our team to deliver analytics projects for clients, making use of a wide variety of tools and techniques from statistical modeling and machine learning. Your strong communication skills and a research background will be a welcome addition, as this role requires working with clients to scope, define, and deliver end to end analytics projects. The project work may cover all aspects of the analytics lifecycle, from data wrangling, cleaning and preparation to model training and deployment across a variety of modern technologies.
AE’s BI&A team is a small, nimble team that works on many different projects that involve stakeholders from all levels, from front-line employees to CEO’s. The B&IA Data Scientist will deliver client value and ensure high client satisfaction that will carry impact across departments. B&IA Data Scientists recognize, subscribe, and apply best practices, methodology, tools, and techniques to meet client requirements, timelines, and budgets. B&IA Data Scientist have the ability to take big-picture data and ideas and turn them into actionable improvements, informing business decisions on a wide scale.

A Day in the Life:
- Work with a project team to scope, define, and deliver analytics and data science solutions for clients
- Perform exploratory data analyses, wrangle and clean historical data in order to generate and test hypotheses
- Research and recommend the appropriate methods (supervised vs unsupervised learning, classification, regression, hypothesis testing, time series forecasting) to business problems
- Work directly with clients to explain the methods and results generated from analyses and models, translating technical results to nontechnical audiences
- Conduct training and workshops with clients to enable them to better use their data and techniques from data science
- Facilitate answering technical questions from clients and AE sales representatives
- Quickly learn new technologies and have a passion for staying up to date on advances in data science and analytics
- Support internal analytics projects at AE
What You’ll Need:
- MS/PhD (or BS with experience) in statistics, data science or quantitative fields.
- Scientific research background with courses in research design and/or causal inference
- Strong programming skills with a proficiency in Python or R
- Demonstrated background in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning with foundational knowledge in supervised and unsupervised learning
- Demonstrated skill at data cleansing, data quality assessment, and data visualization
- Familiarity with open source data visualization libraries (ggplot2, matplotlib, d3)
- Familiarity with open source machine learning libraries and frameworks (tensorflow, keras, caret, tidymodels)
- Familiarity with a business intelligence visualization platform (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker)
- Familiarity with MLOps framework (MLFlow, airflow)
- Experience with public cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure)
